A construction theme party is a perfect theme for little boys, who love playing with cars and trucks! And this time we were happy to plan and decorate a construction party to celebrate the 1st year of a little sweet boy!
To start getting inspired for this party we created an inspiration board on Pinterest which you can see here: Construction party ideas. Then we decided to focus on a palette of colours that could be repeated in all the elements of the party, so we chose yellow, orange, red, grey and black. These colours also made a perfect match to the party collection from Meri Meri party which we were happy to use to decorate the tables of the party with their beautiful paper plates.
To create the dessert table and main focus point of the party, we created a backdrop covered in orange paper, then added some yellow paper with hand painted black stripes and added a happy birthday banner.
We placed the desserts into different wooden boxes and stands to add different levels on the able and add volume and we used some construction trucks as decorations. To decorate the table we also placed two bouquets of balloons on each side of the table and a tassels garland at the bottom of the table, to give it a more festive look.
At the dessert table we had a beautiful caramel cake done by Dream Cakes, icing cookies in the shape of number one signs and trucks done by Sweet Inc and some cupcakes in the shape of helmets and triangles done by Sweet Pois. Then we also added some marshmallow sticks and some popcorn placed on custom made popcorn boxes made by Paper Beauty and More.
To decorate the tables, we had yellow napkins, construction themed plates, milk jars decorated with custom made tags, bottle wrappers and paper straws and also personalised hand-painted cutlery. The tables had a white paper tablecloth and a black table runner with white stipes that simulated a highway.
For entertainment we had facepainting animations and glitter tattoos and we created a beautiful custom made piñata that was a lot of fun for the little kids to try to break.
The party was so much fun and the kids really enjoyed it!
